Bank on Banking

Ins & Outs…Tips & Tricks…Strategy – Break into Investment Banking and Thrive

Kickoff – Welcome to Bank on Banking!

kickoff The inaugural post is officially online!

Welcome to Bank on Banking, a new web site designed to help anyone pave his or her own finance-driven career path, and, ultimately, break into investment banking and thrive! As an investment banker who currently works for a bulge bracket bank and who previously worked for a boutique M&A advisory firm, I know what the position requires, and, perhaps more importantly, I know what it takes to break in – i.e. what the recruiters, staffers and head hunters are looking for. I have helped many friends, colleagues and acquaintances polish their resumes, brush up on their technical knowledge, nail their interviews, and land the job. Although in the current financial environment the barriers to entry will be higher than ever before, regardless of your background, it is absolutely possible to overcome the hurdles and earn an investment banking position.

For more information about the site stop by the “About” section, or just drop me an email – they’re always welcome, and any good questions will end up in an upcoming post. Keep your eyes open for a flurry of articles to launch the site ranging from interview prep, to on-the-job downtime activities, to an analyst’s [healthy] diet (I’m a cross country runner and competitive powerlifter by hobby). Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to stay “in the know” on all of the latest posts via the RSS feed and Email subscription tools.

  1. Hey,

Great site, definitely a great resource. I had a quick questions. I am going to be a rising senior I would like to break into a middle market ibank but unfortunately I was unable to get a ibanking internship. Instead I got asset management a large bank. I go to a target school and have 3.6-3.7 gpa. How hard do you think it will be to get interviews and what can I do in addition to networking and making sure I get an offer.

    Thanks,
    Shrane
